Ranchi, Jan 31: Ranchi University (RU) is set to conduct its 35th convocation on February 4 from 11:30 am. RU Vice Chancellor Prof. Kamini Kumar on Monday said a total of 104 students will receive their PhD degrees along with 79 gold medalists and 54 graduation toppers. She further added that a total of 24372 degrees will be conferred.
Under UG and PG courses, 9 will be awarded for Best Master’s degrees, 9 for Best Graduate in general course and 11 will receive sponsored gold medals.
A total of 4587 students of MA along with 18, 12 and six in MA in Archaeology & Museology, MA in Fashion Design and Management and MA in Human Rights Education respectively. Additionally, 8 students in MA in Dance, 11 in MA in Music (vocal), 8 in MA in Theatre Arts, 19 in Public Administration, 70 in MA in Rural Development and 55 in MA in Yogic Science will receive degrees this year.
1056 students of MSc along with 30 in MSc BioTechnology, 27 in MSc Nursing, 1687 of M.Com, 400 for B.Com BBA, 26 for B.Com Computer Application, 17,042 in BA with 8 in BA in Fashion Designing, 26 in BA in Computer Application, 33 in BA Mass Communication & Video Production, 3187 in BSc with 432 in BSC Computer Application, 18 in BSc in BioTechnology, 161 in BSc Information Technology, 194 in BSc Nursing, 106 in Post Basic Nursing, 4213 in BComm, 600 in UG old course and 6 in UG old course will receive their degrees.
Other degree receivers include 417 in BTech, 200 in MBA, 124 in MBBS, 140 in MD/MS/MCh/Diploma (RIMS), 69 in MCA, 21 in MRM, 9 in PDCC, 49 in PG Diploma in Yogic Science, 51 in PG Diploma in Guidance and Counselling, 186 in LLB, 46 in LLM, 2051 in Bed, 50 in MEd and 51 in MJMC.
The Governor and Chancellor of universities of Jharkhand, Ramesh Bais will be the chief guest of the programme. The RU administration had sent a request to the Governor to preside over the convocation as the chief guest to which the Raj Bhavan secretariat gave its consent.
Notably, during the convocation students that have topped higher studies including regular, professional, and vocational courses from RU and its affiliated colleges till December 31 last year will be felicitated with gold medals. Besides, those who completed their Ph.D. will receive their certificates from the Governor. In this regard, the university authority had earlier asked eligible students to submit their application with a fee of Rs 300 to attend the convocation and to get their academic certificates.
“We are prepared for every situation. It depends upon the overall situation of Covid-19 and the direction of the government therein. We are prepared for the online convocation. There can also be a provision to allow a limited number of persons to participate in convocation. But it depends upon the situation and guidelines issued by the government,” said RU VC Kamini Kumar.
Prof Kumar said that the main programme will be organised at the Aryabhata Auditorium of the university where large LED screens will be placed for viewers under a budget of Rs 10 lakhs 50 thousand approved by the Syndicate. She said that she has been meeting with RU officials to successfully conduct the programme by following the guidelines of the Covid 19.
