Ranchi, July 27: The Ranchi University (RU) postponed the discussion on outsourcing the management of examination for its undergraduate, post graduate and other courses and the proposal did not come up at its syndicate meeting held today.

“The matter was not discussed at the syndicate meeting today. We have postponed the discussion on it (outsourcing of examination process to a private agency),” RU Registrar Dr MC Mehta said without confirming whether it will be taken up in the next meeting.

It was earlier slated to be on the agenda of the syndicate meeting of the University with an aim to revamp the entire examination process to make it transparent, fair, efficient and online for the ease of students who have to visit the college for all related work.

Mehta had earlier said that there is a plan to fully automate and take the process of examination online from filling up of exam forms, payment of exam fees, issue of admit cards, to scoring of answer sheets and issue of mark sheets and certificates.

However, RU Controller of Examination Dr AK Jha was of the view that instead of giving complete responsibility of holding examinations to a third party, the RU’s examination department must be strengthened with additional equipment, software and manpower.

Officials inform that the syndicate meeting held today approved promotions of about 20 teachers and passed some decisions taken in the previous syndicate meeting including opening up of Punjab National Bank’s ATM in its Morabadi campus.
