Ranchi, May 18: The Ranchi University senate met on Wednesday and discussed a few issues while approving some others. The senate here passed a total budget worth Rs 1,094 crore 73 lakh for the session 2022-23.
Notably, a proposal of Rs 193.66 crore was sent by the university to the government for certain plans. Of this, the budget for Rs 183.23 crores was approved. At the same time, a proposal of Rs 390.63 crore was sent for pensioners, arrears and minority teachers, out of which the government approved Rs three hundred 90 crores.
On behalf of the university, Salima Tete, a student of Simdega College and an Olympic level hockey player from sports quota and Anjali Kumari, a student of Ranchi University’s postgraduate mathematics department from meritorious student quota; were nominated as members of the Senate.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Kamini Kumar has been authorized to appoint four financial members and eight members for the audit committee for financial related work in the university.
Dr Vashudev Singh, Head of History Department of University Department; Dr Vijay Singh, HOD of PG Department Zoology of Mandar College; Prof Archana Kumar Dubey, HOD of PG Department Sanskrit; Dr Krishnachandra Tutu, former Head of PG Department Tribal and Regional Languages Department; Dr Khalid Ahmed from Ram Lakhan Singh Yadav College; Dr Latika Sharma, Associate Professor of Botany; Subodh Chandra Shukla of PPK College Bundu; Dr Hari Oraon, Coordinator of the Department of Tribal and Regional Languages asked several questions from the senate on the occasion.
The senate also approved the option to consider a proposal to elect a teacher from amongst the teachers of the Medical Department as the University representative in the MCI under Section 3(1)(b) of the amended Regulations 2013.
Asha Lakra, Mayor of Ranchi Municipal Corporation, who was also a part of the meeting said that girls come from far-flung areas to study at Ranchi University. Hence, it is necessary to build a common room and student residence for girls.
The Senate had, notably, met after three years in the university. In this meeting, the former Vice-Chancellor, representatives of RIMS, and other university officials along with faculty members were present.
