Ranchi, Dec 2: Ranchi University is set to begin the first phase of counselling for BEd admissions from December 5, 2022. As per sources, this will be the second time that Ranchi University will be doing the said counselling. Earlier, RU had done the same in 2019.

Earlier, the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) had done counselling for the same in 2020 and 2021, as the selection was then based on marks instead of an examination due to the pandemic.

Sources in JCECEB claimed, “Earlier the counselling was done here because exams for the merit list were not to be conducted because of Covid. The HRD had thus instructed the JCECEB to conduct the counselling on the basis of marks.”

Meanwhile, RU DSW Raj Kumar Sharma said, “This is the second time that Ranchi University is conducting the counselling. Earlier it was done in 2019.” When questioned regarding the reason behind RU was given said responsibility by the HRD, he said, “This may have happened as RU has the infrastructure to conduct counselling on such a level.”

Notably, the counselling will be held in the Aryabhata Auditorium of Ranchi University. Counselling is usually done in four phases if seats are not filled earlier. If all the seats in Jharkhand are filled in the first phase itself, counselling will not be conducted further. However, if the seat is not filled by the fourth phase, the university will then conduct open counselling.
