Ranchi, March 10: The Ranchi University is set to organise the Employees’ Union elections after almost 40 years. As per the employees of Ranchi University, about 40 years ago, the election of the said union of Ranchi University was held by voting. As per official sources, the election of the employees union at Ranchi University is to be held on March 13 and counting will also be done on the same day.
After the then elections, the office bearers of the Employees Union were nominated here. The condition is more or less the same in the case of other universities in the state.
Notably, about eight years ago, the office bearers of the Employees Union were nominated at Kolhan University. After which elections have not been held.
Three new universities were formed in Jharkhand. Of these, Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, the election of the employees union was held in 2020. In 2018, the election of the employees union was held at Binod Bihari Mahato Koyalanchal University.
Meanwhile, Elections have not yet been held at Jamshedpur Women’s University since its formation. As per sources, elections were held when the Jamshedpur Women’s University was still a college.
The earlier committee is still working at the university. On the other hand, the election of the employees union was held at Vinoba Bhave University in 2017 for the last time.
On the other hand, employees of several universities in Jharkhand have agreed that election of employee unions in universities or colleges should be conducted on a regular basis.
“This works in the interest of the employees. Due to the existence of an organization, the problem of any employee is heard prominently. It is necessary that the election should also be held within the stipulated time,” said RU Employees’ Union members while expressing satisfaction over the decision to hold elections this month.
