Ranchi, Jan 16: A day after the body of a 20-yr-old Marwari College student was found hanging in her room in suspicious circumstances at Rudia village under BIT police outpost, villagers laid siege over the outpost demanding proper action against the accused without delay in the matter.
Notably, protestors kept the body of the deceased outside the outpost and staged demonstrations.
SP (rural) Naushad Alam termed the demonstration uncalled for saying he had already ordered proper action in the matter.
“Based on the statement of parents we have already registered an FIR under section 376 (rape) and 302 (murder) of IPC in this case and ordered a proper probe. Parents named a youth as a suspect. I have already asked officials of the police station to detain the youth though he is at large. In this situation, laying siege is not justified,” SP (rural) Alam said.
Moreover, when asked about the progress in the probe, Alam said, “Though no outside injury mark was noticed on the body of the girl, we are waiting for the autopsy report to give any conclusive statement on the matter.”
A local resident said it was the girl’s father who was the first to notice the body hanging after he opened the closed door from outside.
“Parents of the girl work in BIT-Mesra. In the morning both went to work. After some time the father returned home for some work. As he opened the door closed from outside, he noticed his daughter hanging. He informed the local people about the incident. After which information was given to the police,” the resident said.
