Ranchi, May 14: Reports of peaceful voting in the first phase of the Panchayat election in rural areas of the Ranchi district are coming in.
As many as 39.2 percent of voters have exercised their franchise at Bundu, while the turnout at Sonahatu, Rahe and Tamar is respectively 31.2 percent, 34.8 percent and 36.2 percent till 11 am.
SP (rural) Naushad Alam said proper security arrangements have been made at all the 648 polling booths across the rural areas of the district where polling is going on today.
The number of voters is 13.9 lakh while as many as 888 candidates are in the fray for different posts in the election. In the wake of the election, the district administration has declared a dry day from May 12 to 15.
