Hazaribag, May.13: Police has solved the case related to recovery of the body of a middle-aged woman from Hatyari forest under Muffasil police station by arresting a father and son. With son having affairs with a Ranchi-based Christian woman, she was murdered to get rid of her.

A police official said Saroj Lakda was a resident of Angada, Ranchi and her husband Asaw Lakda was financially not good. They said Saroj, a mother of two, developed an affair with Mohammad Rahim, a resident of Chapwa village under Sadar block of Hazaribag. She came to meet Rahim at his house on Monday. Rahim and his father Mohammad Mubarak didn’t like Saroj’s visit to their house and so decided to kill her.

Police officials said as per plan, Rahim took Saroj to her new house. Mubarak came there soon with cold drinks mixed with pesticide. As Saroj took a few sips of the cold drinks, she started feeling uneasy. Duo son and father strangulated her and dumped the body in Hatyari forest. Their neighbour Mohammad Mehmud also helped them in committing this crime.

On information of villagers, the police had recovered the body on Thursday and started its investigation. Probe made them to ascertain her identity and soon reaching to father and son who admitted killing her. They said they used their new house situated in an area away from the village population so as to commit this crime without any problem. Police is looking for Mehmud who is still at large.

Muffasil police station officer-in-charge Bajrang Mahto helped Saroj’s husband to take the body to Ranchi and to perform the last rite there. Mahto said the father and son were sent to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan central jail.
