Jamshedpur, June 20: Rathyatra of Lord Jagannath was celebrated with traditional gaiety at various places bringing an ambiance of spirituality here in Jamshedpur on Tuesday.

When the Rathyatra festival was celebrated in the Utkal Association at Sakchi for the first time this year, the chariot festival was celebrated by ISCON from the Ram Mandir in Bistupur.

With Lord Jagannath, his siblings Balbhadra and Subhadra aboard a decorated wooden chariot, the Rathyatra embarked on a four-km-long procession from the Utkal Association premises this afternoon.

Hundreds of devotees, including women, drew the chariot amidst slogans like “Jai Jagannath” throughout the stretch.

The Rathyatra began after the RSB Group chairman, RK Behera had performed the traditional “Chhera Panhara. ”

At Bistupur, the Rathyatra started after the ISCON’s priest Anindo Das had performed the Puja rituals.

While the chariots of the Lord were rolling on the streets thousands of people lined up to have a glance of the spectacular moment.

Significantly, Health Minister, Banna Gupta was among those who came over to take the blessings of Lord Jagannath at Sakchi.
