Ranchi, Nov 3: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to organise the Aryabhatta Mathematics Challenge (AMC) to ascertain the extent to which children are able to apply mathematics to their daily life, along with promoting problem-solving skills.
The process of registration for this has started. The main objective of this competition is to identify the mathematical skills and abilities of the students. Schools affiliated with CBSE can apply till 5:30 PM on November 15.
As per information released by the Board, AMC will be conducted at two levels — Level 1 and Level 2. The level-1 competition will be conducted at the school level in pen-paper mode, while Level-2 will be held by CBSE at the national level in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. No fee will be charged for the first phase.
Students of classes VIII to X in CBSE-affiliated schools are eligible to participate in the school-level competition. In the first phase, only the top three students from registered schools will qualify for Aryabhata Maths Challenge (AMC) Level-2 competition. The duration of the CBSE Aryabhatta Maths Challenge will be of one hour for both levels.
The question paper will consist of objective-type multiple-choice questions. The total weightage will be 40 marks and there will be no negative marking. The question paper for this competition will be made available to the registered schools between November 16 and 21, 2022. Questions on concepts like Number Systems, Measurement, Geometry, Data Analysis, Probability, Algebra etc will be asked in the paper. The registered schools will conduct the exam using the question paper to identify the top three students.
The second level of the Challenge will be conducted on December 15. Schools can enrol the names of the top three students between November 28 and December 10, 2022 by paying an online fee of Rs 900. After successful completion of the second-level computer test, a merit certificate will be given to the top 100 students from each CBSE region.
