New Delhi, Jan 1: Registrations for vaccination 15-18-year-old children against COVID-19 via the Co-WIN portal has begun on Saturday, January 1, 2022 in accordance with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement on Christmas.

The only vaccine choice would be ‘Covaxin,’ as it is the only one with an Emergency Use Listing (EUL) for the 15-18 age groups, as well as the requisite recommendation of the NTAGI’s “COVID-19 Working Group.” While online registration is already open on the CoWIN platform, onsite registration will begin on January 3. The vaccine for the age group 15-18 years will begin on Monday.

Apart from this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that the administration of the precautionary third dose for the susceptible categories will begin on January 10, 2022.

The Union Health Secretary advised the States/UTs that only ‘Covaxin’ is to be administered in this demographic category and that additional doses of ‘Covaxin’ will be delivered to all states and UTs in the context of vaccination of the age group 15-18 years.

For the 15-18 year old age group, all established vaccination protocols must be followed; beneficiaries must wait half an hour before being monitored for adverse events following immunisation (AEFI), and they will only be eligible for the second dose after 28 days.

How to register for a vaccine slot:

  • Beneficiaries can arrange a vaccination session on Co-WIN by self-registering or using an existing account.
  • You must input your mobile number to acquire a One-Time Password (OTP) while creating a new account.
  • After you’ve successfully created an account, you may fill out the registration form.
  • You will be offered the option to reserve a time closer to your local vaccination centre after enrolling with CoWin.
  • In the facilitated registration option, eligible applicants can also register for COVID immunisation offline.
  • Beneficiaries can schedule their vaccination appointment either online or on-site.
