Dhanbad, Sep 1: The regular movement of the New Giridih-Ranchi Express train (03309/ 03310) will kick start from September 13.

Dhanbad Divisional Rail Manager (DRM) KK Sinha told media persons that Union Minister of State for Education Annapurna Devi ( Koderma MP) will flag off the new train on September 12 at  New Giridih railway station and the train would run regularly from the next day.

The timing schedule of both up (03309) and down (03310) trains will be announced by the Railway Board on the inauguration day on September 12.

The DRM said the train would make a halt at Jamua, Dhanbar, Maheshpur Halt, Koderma, Hazaribagh, Tatisilwai station and Ranchi.

DRM KK Sinha also announced that 10 trains would again stay at Katras station of Dhanbad Rail Division from the next week (between September 7 to 12).

The halt of important trains at Katras station were suspended after the Railway Board stopped trains’ movement on the Dhanbad-Chandrapura line on June  15, 2017, on the recommendation of the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS) following the danger of an underground mines fire.

However, under pressure from a mass protest, the Railway Board resumed trains’ movement on the Dhanbad-Chandrapura track on February 24, 2019, but stoppage of some important trains at Katras railway station was not given.

DRM KK Sinha has initiated a step for the stoppage of trains at Katras station after a gap of six years.

The up and down trains that would again stay at Katras station are 13403- 13404 Ranchi- Bhagalpur Vananchal Express, 18619-18620 Ranchi Godda Express,18621- 18622 Hatia- Patna Patliputra Express, 19413- 19414 Kolkata- Ahmadabad Express, 19607-19608 Kolkata -Madar Express.
