New Delhi, Jan 29: The customary ‘Beating Retreat’ at Vijay Chowk in New Delhi will bring the Republic Day week to a close today.
Every year on January 29, the Beating Retreat ceremony marks the end of the Republic Day celebrations.
Previously, only the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force were invited to perform at the Beating Retreat ceremony. But since 2016, marching bands from other police forces have been invited as well.
The dignitaries are expected to arrive between 5:00 and 5:15 p.m. The primary ceremony will start at 5:15 p.m. and run an hour, ending at 6:15 p.m. The drone show will be 10 minutes long.
At 6.30 p.m., the celebration comes to a close with the national anthem.
The Beating Retreat Ceremony will be streamed live on the official YouTube channel of Doordarshan National.
