Ranchi, Sept.6: An eight-member committee has been constituted at RIMS to probe an incident of ragging in the institute premises on Saturday that caused a ruckus in the hostels and created a rift between seniors and juniors.
The eight-member committee comprises the dean (students welfare), Dr Hiren Birua, Dr N.N.Singh (dean, dental), Dr Shailesh Kumar Tripathi (deputy superintendent), Haider Ali (vigilance officer) besides wardens of hostel no 2,3,4 and 7.
The medical superintendent of RIMS, Dr Vivek Kashyap informed this saying the committee has been directed to give its report within 24 hours for action against erring students.
An insider said that a dispute arose on Saturday after a section of students of the 2019 batch was in celebration mode after the end of their supplementary examination in hostel number 7 which students of the 2020 batch residing in the same hostel disliked as their examination was at hand.
As PG students realized the situation they interfered in the matter and gave piece of mind to 2019 batch students. 2019 batch students took strong exception to PG students’ behaviour as they felt humiliated before their juniors and a situation of unrest got created in the hostel.
