Ranchi: Laundry staff at RIMS, the capital’s largest government hospital, went on strike today after not receiving their honorarium for the past seven months, a move that could disrupt the hospital’s sanitation arrangements, particularly affecting operation theatre operations, where clean linens and other materials processed by the laundry are essential for surgeries.
Employees Say Repeated Complaints Went Unaddressed
Staff members said they had repeatedly informed RIMS administration about the non-payment of wages, but the issue has remained unresolved despite these efforts. According to employees, the prolonged delay in payment has caused significant financial hardship, prompting them to halt work in protest today.
Workers Demand Concrete Action on Outstanding Dues
Employees said their difficulties would continue until concrete steps are taken to address their pending payments.
