Ranchi, April 6: The state-run super speciality hospital, Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), is going to increase the number of beds for the patients.

In the first phase, 777 new beds will be added for which the Health Department has sanctioned Rs 250 crore.

Apart from Jharkhand, people from other neighbouring states also come to RIMS for treatment, but due to rush of the patients, beds fall short and they are forced to get treatment on the ground. Now with the increase in the number of beds the patients coming for treatment will not face any problems.

More than 1,500 patients are always admitted to the hospital indoors. At the same time, the condition of the neuro ward is not good. In such a situation, by increasing the beds, the patients undergoing treatment on the ground will be able to get beds.

Apart from this, 130 nursing students studying in the hospital will also be trained, who will take care of the admitted patients. Not only this, but preparations are also being made to operate the Radiology and the Pathology labs on PPP mode so that patients do not need to go out for tests.

On the other hand, a target of treating 5.70 lakh patients has been set. It is clear from this that if the health system is back on track, then the patients will not need to go to a private hospital.

Every day around 2,000 patients come here for the consultation in the OPD. At the same time, 1,500-1,600 patients admitted to the ward are treated daily.

In such a scenario, around 150 to 200 patients are forced to get treatment on the floor. The biggest problem is in the neurosurgery and orthopaedics department. Here patients are compelled to get their treatment on the floor throughout the year.

A total of 777 beds will be increased in the first phase, but later more beds will be increased here. A plan has been made to provide treatment facilities to 3550 patients simultaneously at RIMS.

The building construction department has prepared a plan to renovate the 60-year-old RIMS building and build four new buildings for Rs 1,200 crore. These new buildings will have a new Indoor Patient Department (IPD), OPD Complex, Mother and Child Health (MCH) and Superspecialty Wing (Extension) with a total bed capacity of 1750.
