Ranchi, July 15: The Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) has informed that many UG students for the 2021 batch have been involved in mass-bunking for the last 3-4 months.

The Director of RIMS Dr Kameshwar Prasad while informing the media said that the first and second-year students have mass bunked several times in the last few months due to which their attendance is also getting affected.

“As per the guidelines, students need to have a mandatory attendance of at least 75% in theory and 80% in practical. The new students have set a trend that if there is a holiday on Friday, they continue to miss the classes on Saturday and directly attend on Monday,” the director said.

The director said that the administration has decided to take strict actions against these students and has mentioned two punishments regarding it.

“Firstly, we have sent official warning letters to their parents informing them that their ward is not attending classes and lack of attendance can result in a year back. Sending a letter from the Institute in its way is a big punishment. Secondly, we have decided that if a student misses any class during this time then it will be considered as ‘supposed to be taught’ and no extra classes will be held,” the director confirmed.

Earlier, the students had also requested to grant them holidays for summer and winter vacations. However, during a meeting held by the faculties and administration, it was decided that since the syllabus is vast and the pressure to complete it is on a higher side there will be no summer or winter vacation holidays for the UG students.
