Patna, May 16: Kiran Kumar, a member of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), was tragically shot and killed by unknown assailants in Bihar’s Vaishali district late on Monday, prompting protests from his followers on Tuesday, the police said.
According to the police, the event happened as Kiran was travelling back to his house in the village of Ramdauli after attending a wedding ceremony.
Unknown perpetrators intercepted him as soon as he reached the Amer village area, shot him twice, and then ran away.
Supporters of Kiran, including former RJD MLA Mukesh Raushan from Mahua, arrived at the hospital on Tuesday morning as the body was taken there for the postmortem.
He demanded immediate arrest of those involved.
“Kiran was an old party member and currently active for party work. Two decades ago, Kiran’s father Satrughan Rai was also murdered by someone”, he said.
According to the police, Kiran’s supporters obstructed traffic on the Hajipur-Mahnar road and asked that the offenders be brought to justice.
Vaishali SP Raviranjan Kumar said it is difficult to comment on the issue right now because police are looking into it.
