Road accident kills three of UP in Dhanbad

Dhanbad , June 21: Three persons, including a woman, have died whereas three other have been seriously injured when their car hit a standing truck on inter-state GT Road (NH-2) at Barwa under Barwadda police station of Dhanbad on Tuesday.

Barwadda police station officer in-charge Suman Kumar said that the car (Scorpio) was going from Balia, Uttar Pradesh to Burdwan in West Bengal. Six persons were in the car out of which three died on the spot while three have received injuries. They have been admitted at the hospital.

The deceased were identified as Rajesh Das (36), Basanti Devi (40) and Sachin Kumar.

“The accident occurred around 3.30 am. The scene of the spot suggests that the Scorpio was in full speed and hit the standing truck from the rear. Barwadda police station patrolling team reached the spot immediately and took them to Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) where doctors pronounced the three dead on arrivals,” said the police officer Suman Kumar.

Police official said the victims were residents of Balia district of Uttar Pradesh and were working in Burdwan, West Bengal and were returning to Burdwan.

After getting the information, the relatives of deceased persons reached Dhanbad in the evening and were given the bodies after post-mortem at medical college hospital.

An injured person informed media persons that the driver of the Scorpio seemed to be sleepy while driving in full speed and he hit the standing truck. All five in the car were sleeping when the accident occurred.
