VISHVENDU JAIPURIAR
Hazaribagh, April 10: Danuwa ghati again claimed two lives. The ghati which is a part of the GT (Grand Trunk) road is infamous for regular accidental deaths, and NHAI so far has failed to take corrective measures. This morning, a truck carrying rods fell into a ditch killing the driver and the cleaner.
Local residents said Danuwa has created fear among commuters due to accidents taking place regularly. A large number of people have lost their lives here, raising concerns and demands to correct the faults here.
Sources said the GT road passes through a forest in Danuwa having sharp bends resulting in accidents. Even during the construction of the road, engineers failed to take care of the errors which are costing lives. However, NHAI said a proposal has been sent to the Union Government to correct all faults at Danuwa which is called Maut ki ghati (valley of death) by commuters.
About the fresh deaths, police officials said they have started the relief work and once completed, they will be able to know the exact number of deaths. We are confirmed about the deaths of the driver and the cleaner but if anyone else was with them, then chances of survival are less, they added.
