Ranchi, Dec.20: People residing near the JSCA stadium staged a demonstration as a morning walker, Deepu Kumar (20), died and two others sustained injuries in a road accident.
A locality resident said that the incident took place around 8am when youths were returning from a morning walk and the SUV hit them coming from the backside.
Officer-in-charge of Dhurwa police station Praveen Kumar confirmed the incident saying that the vehicle has been seized and its driver has been arrested.
Asked about the situation of the demonstration, OC Kumar said: “It is under control following the arrest of the driver and seizure of the vehicle.”
A locality resident said the driver is the son of one Anil Singh.
“Singh had contested the election of ward councillor. People in the locality have perennial complaints about his son. Today they lost their control after his rough driving claimed the life of a youth,” the resident said.
