New Delhi, April 4: veteran Kiwi cricketer Ross Taylor will play his final match against the Netherlands at Seddon Park in Hamilton on Monday, bringing his cricketing career to a close.

When players from both sides came at the centre for pre-match rituals, the 38-year-old couldn’t keep his emotions in check.  Martin Guptill was seen consoling the veteran player after the ceremonies. He was also accompanied with his wife and three children – Mackenzie, Jonty, and Adelaide.

When he stepped out to bat in the middle, the opposition players gave him a special guard of honour. Taylor, on the other hand, failed to make a large score in his final appearance, being caught and bowled by Logan van Beek for 14 (16).

Taylor has played for New Zealand in all three forms and has over 15,000 runs to his name.

Meanwhile, current and former cricketers from various eras joined together to wish Taylor well on his retirement. On social media, New Zealand Cricket published a video of the same, which included Rahul Dravid, Virat Kohli, and Daniel Vettori, among others.
