The J&K administration will start RFID tracking of vehicles to keep track of their movement. The yatra will start simultaneously from the Pahalgam route in Anantnag of southern Kashmir and the Baltal route in Ganderbal of central Kashmir.
The annual Amarnath Yatra would start on June 30 this year for 43 days and conclude on Raksha Bandhan day on August 11. The annual pilgrimage wasn’t held in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid-19.
The board has also created a ‘Shri Amarnathji Yatra App’ which is available on the Google app store to get real-time information about the yatra, weather and other online services.
In 2019, the yatra was suspended a few days before August 5, when the Centre abrogated the special status to J&K and the state was downgraded into the two Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh. That year, the administration had ordered non-local tourists and labourers to leave the Valley and then a clampdown and communication shutdown was imposed for several weeks.
