Ranchi, Dec 28: Maoist regional commander Aman Ganjhu, carrying a bounty of Rs 19 lakh cash, surrendered before senior Jharkhand police official and CRPF personnel in a programme on Wednesday.

IG (operation) A.V Homkar, Ranchi Zonal IG Pankaj Kamboj and Garhwa SP Anjani Jha were present on the occasion.

Aman Ganjhu was the regional commander in the CPI Maoist organization. The Jharkhand government had announced a reward of Rs 15 lakh and the NIA had announced a reward of Rs 4 lakh for his arrest.

Aman was active in the Latehar, Lohardaga and Gumla areas of Jharkhand for a long time. He joined the Maoist organization in 2004. As many as 17 cases are registered against him. Out of 17, 10 cases are registered in the Garhwa district while 7 cases have been registered in the Latehar district.

In February this year, Jharkhand Police had launched a security force operation in the Bulbul area of Lohardaga. In this campaign, the squad of notorious Maoist commander Ravindra Ganjhu suffered a huge loss and Naxalites Rabindra Ganjhu and Aman Ganjhu had fled away.

Aman had fled from the Bulbul forest to Chhakarbandha while Ravindra had fled to the Budhapahar area. In recent days, a big campaign against the Maoists has started in the Chhakarbandha area. The security forces have had great success in the campaign. Disturbed by the ongoing campaign by the Jharkhand Police, Aman surrendered.

Aman Ganjhu is basically a resident of Dhibra of the Aurangabad police station area of Bihar.

In the year 2019, the NIA announced a reward against 22 Naxalites, including Aman, in the case of the Naxalite attack in Chandwa, Latehar.

During the last three years, 40 Naxalites surrendered before the Jharkhand Police, while more than 1300 Naxalites were arrested. In the year 2022, ten Naxalites surrendered before the Jharkhand Police. In three years, 30 Naxalites were also killed. Continuous operations are being carried out against Naxalites in Budha Pahar, Tri Junction, Chatra Gaya border Parasnath, and Kolhan area, and success has also been achieved during this. This year, camps of security forces have also been established in more than twenty core areas.
