Rs 90cr allocated for Koderma’s JJ college renovation

Koderma, July 25: Established in 1960, the only constituent college of the district named Jagannath Jain College popularly called J J College will now get a facelift with Rs 90 crore fund. After the facelift, this college will have modern infrastructures including classrooms, library, grounds, indoor stadium and quarters for staff and principal.

College authorities said when in 1960, this college was started, it had Arts stream only. In the year 1976, permission came to start Science and Commerce courses as well.

According to officials, a detailed project for the renovation of this oldest college in the district is now ready. They said from this amount, all the facilities will get upgraded including the construction of separate blocks for Arts, Science and Commerce. The college campus will also have an indoor sports complex, arts exhibition centre, boy’s hostel, guest house, library, cafeteria, parking, gardening works, auditorium, computer lab, language lab, separate clubs for boys and girls, gymnasium and yoga court, solar power system, hi-tech office, principal chamber, volleyball and basketball court, lecture theatre, PG block, principal and staff quarters.

A college teacher said this institution is providing education to around 7000 students, including 3496 girls. He said with renovation, this college will get equipped with modern facilities offering quality education to students in a better ambience.
