Ranchi, June 18: Jatru Kherwar, a Maoist with Rs one lakh reward on his head, surrendered to police today in Lohardaga, approximately 60 kilometres from Jharkhand’s capital.
Jatru Kherwar was the extremist organization’s area commander. He was a member of the tough group led by Ravindra Ganjhu, for which a Rs 15 lakh bounty has been set.
A total of 17 cases against Kherwar have been filed at various police stations in the Lohardaga and Gumla districts.
Jatru, son of late Sokro Kherwar, is primarily a resident of Putarar village which is located in the district’s Pesharar police station area. He was appointed area commander when a prize of one lakh rupees was declared for Jatru Kherwar.
So far, 27 radicals have surrendered to police officers in Lohardaga.
