New Delhi, Sept 13: Britain has not extended invitations to officials from Russia, Myanmar and Belarus to attend the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth scheduled for next Monday.
In reaction to Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine, Britain and its Western allies have worked to isolate Russia and its partner Belarus on the international scene through economic sanctions and other measures.
As London increases support for the Rohingya people in Myanmar, British sanctions have now been placed on the Myanmar and its military.
According to the BBC, invitations have been sent to the heads of state of the majority of the nations with which Britain has diplomatic relations, and approximately 500 foreign dignitaries are expected to attend Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in London.
A number of world leaders, including the prime ministers of Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, as well as US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, have confirmed their attendance for the event, which is expected to be one of the biggest diplomatic gatherings in Britain in recent memory.
