Kyiv, Feb 24: The start of a military strike by Russia in Ukraine on Thursday has thrown the country into pandemonium. Following Russian President Vladimir Putin’s official order, Russian forces launched missiles against multiple Ukrainian cities and landed troops on the country’s southern coast.
Seven people were killed and nine another were injured in Brovary, Kyiv, according to Ukraine’s interior ministry. Separatists backed by Russia, on the other hand, have claimed control of two towns in the Luhansk area.
Apartment complex near Ukraine’s Kharkiv was also hit by airstrike, causing an unknown number of casualties, according to the reports.

Earlier in the day, Ukraine shot down five Russian planes and one helicopter in Luhansk. Russia reported destroying military facilities at Ukraine’s air bases and “suppressing” its air defences moments later.
Western governments have condemned Russia for its actions in Ukraine.
