Jamshedpur, Sept 19: In a remarkable achievement South Eastern Railway has crossed the scrap sale figure of Rs.200 crore.
The total scrap sale during the period from April 1 to September 16 has been Rs 204.4 crore.
Officials said making South Eastern Railway a “Zero Scrap” Railway is one of the mission areas of this zone.
Necessary steps are being taken by all four railway divisions and workshops to realise value from the sale of unserviceable materials.
Scrap sale of Rs.204.4 crore is 67.47 % higher than the corresponding period of last year and even 37.61% higher than the proportionate target of Rs.148.50 crore up to September.
This has been achieved through the sale of various kinds of scrap which includes scrap rails, ferrous and non-ferrous materials, condemned coaches, wagons and locos, abandoned masonry structures etc.
