Jamshedpur, Sept 9: Three Olympians of South Eastern Railway ( SER) who participated in Tokyo Olympics were felicitated by the new general manager of South Eastern Railway, Archana Joshi at a function held at Garden Reach in Kolkata on Wednesday evening.
They included Nikki Pradhan and Salima Tete, the members of the national women’s hockey team and Suthirtha Mukherjee, the table tennis player. They were applauded for their brilliant performance in Tokyo Olympics, 2020.
The Indian women’s hockey team had secured the fourth position in the Tokyo Olympics and the dedication and skill of Pradhan and Tete along with other members of the women’s hockey squad has won the heart of the nation.
The laudable performance of Sutirtha Mukherjee was also appreciated by the general manager. Sutirtha had won her opening match of the Olympics in a remarkable 7-game thriller.
However, she could not stage another comeback win in women’s singles at the Tokyo Olympics and was knocked out in the second round.
Prashant Mishra, principal financial advisor, SER and president, South Eastern Railway Sports Association (SERSA) and Zarina Firdausi, principal chief personnel officer, SER alongwith other senior officers were also present during the felicitation ceremony.
Nikki Pradhan and Salima Tete, posted at Ranchi division of South Eastern Railway were recently been promoted. Suthirtha Mukherjee who works at Garden Reach, the SER headquarters has also been promoted for her outstanding performance.
All three Olympians mentioned the support and encouragement they received from the SER authorities.
They also praised the facilities and infrastructure provided by SER for sportspersons.
