Jamshedpur, Nov 18: A sack containing a human corpse was found lying along the road near Telco gurudwara on Thursday morning, triggering a sensation in the locality.

The body was found in its pieces and decomposed, and it is yet to be established whether the corpse is that of a male or female.

Police have recovered the stinking mutilated body and shifted it to MGM medical college mortuary for postmortem.

Several passersby had experienced foul smells while passing through the stretch since early this morning. One of the inquisitive local residents tried to find out the reason behind the fetid smell and found the sack.

On coming closer to the stinking sack, the resident spotted a human leg dangling out of it causing him to be in a state of shock. Soon the resident who requested not to be identified spread the information in his neighborhood, ultimately reaching it to the Telco thana which is located just 500 metres away from the spot. Then only a police party rushed to the spot and inspected body bag before confiscating it.

OC, Telco thana, Ajay Kumar confirmed the recovery of the sack containing a human corpse.

“It appears to be a case of murder. The body was found in its pieces and is beyond recognisable whether it is a female’s body or that of a male, ” said Kumar.

The OC said the assailants must have tried to hush up the murder by cutting the body in pieces before stuffing it in the sack and dropping it in a public place.

“We will keep the body for the next 72 hours at the MGM medical college mortuary for getting it’s identified. Once the body is identified, then only we will be able to detect the case, ” said the OC.
