New Delhi, Dec 6: Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’Brien has claimed on Tuesday that Saket Gokhale, the party’s spokesperson, was detained by the Gujarat Police over his tweet after the collapse of the Morbi Bridge.
The party did not specify which tweet exactly, but the government’s fact-check team recently identified Gokhale’s tweet in which he shared what appeared to be newspaper clippings stating that “RTI revealed the PM’s visit to Morbi cost 30 crore,” however the party did not specifically name the tweet.

According to a senior member of Bengal’s ruling party, Derek O’Brien, Saket Gokhale had taken a flight on Monday night from New Delhi to Jaipur in Rajasthan, from where he was picked up by Gujarat Police.
“TMC national spokesperson Saket Gokhale arrested by Gujarat Police. Saket took a 9pm flight from New Delhi to Jaipur on Mon. When he landed, Gujarat Police was at the airport in Rajasthan waiting for him and picked him up,” he said in a tweet.
“All this cannot silence @AITCofficial and the Opposition. BJP taking political vendetta to another level,” he added.
The cooked up case is filed with the Ahmedabad cyber cell about Saket’s tweet on the Morbi bridge collapse.

Four days after it was reopened following renovation, a colonial-era suspension bridge in Morbi, Gujarat, collapsed on October 30 and killed over 130 people. The investigation has indicated that the municipal authorities were ineffective because the renovation contractor is said to have broken the rules.
