Jamshedpur, March 24: In yet another glaring example of falling law and order situation in the state, criminals shot dead a scrap dealer Devbrat Goswami urf Debu at Adityapur in adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Thursday morning.
The middle-aged businessman was immediately rushed to the Tata Main Hospital where doctors declared him as brought dead.
Business rivalry was stated to be the reason for the broad daylight murder.
Adityapur police led by officer- in-charge Alok Dubey soon reached the spot and started a probe.
The police also started an intensive search operation and detained a couple of youths of that locality with criminal backgrounds for interrogation.
The firing incident took place near the Teacher’s Training Crossing on the Tata- Kandra Road at around 9 am.
As soon as the scrap dealer was crossing the Tata – Kandra Road, bike-borne criminals who were waiting at that spot, started indiscriminate firing on the scrap dealer who later collapsed on the spot in a pool of blood.
According to police, the victim too had a criminal record in the past. He was in the scrap business for the last five years.
The police are probing into all the angles to crack the case. The cops have also started scanning the CCTV footage to identify the culprits involved in the crime.
