New Delhi, April 22: Former Jammu and Kashmir governor Satya Pal Malik visited the R K Puram Police station in Delhi on Saturday afternoon, a day after receiving a summon from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a corruption case, reports The Indian Express.
The Delhi Police firmly denied reports that he had been arrested and issued a statement saying the politician had turned up at the police station “of his own volition”. The statement came after several BKU leaders claimed that Malik had been arrested. A khap panchayat organised in support of the former Jammu and Kashmir governor was cancelled and leaders who had turned up for it were detained.
The developments come a day after Malik was summoned by the CBI for questioning on April 28 as a witness in a case of alleged corruption by Reliance General Insurance. He had told news agency PTI that the CBI has asked for his presence at the agency’s Akbar Road guest house in central Delhi for “certain clarifications”.
