New Delhi, June 13: Delhi minister Satyendar Jain’s judicial custody was extended for another 14 days, more than two weeks after his arrest. The date of his bail hearing is set for Tuesday.
Last month, the Enforcement Directorate arrested Jain in a money laundering case. His detention has become the latest point of contention between the BJP and the AAP.
A special court extended the AAP leader’s detention until June 13 last week. After Jain was produced by the CBI at the end of his nine-day remand on Thursday, special judge Geetanjali Goel prolonged his custody. In the meantime, Jain has applied for bail in the same court.
The 57-year-old leader is accused of accumulating disproportionate wealth by laundering money through four firms reportedly linked to him and in which he held stakes. The case is tied to a CBI FIR from 2017.
Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi chief minister, had targeted the central government earlier this month and asked to arrest all the AAP leaders.
