New Delhi, Sep 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Monday during his discussions with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud that the strategic cooperation between India and Saudi Arabia is essential for the prosperity and stability of the region as well as the world.
Modi called Saudi Arabia one of India’s most significant strategic partners and said both nations are expanding their cooperation to keep up with the times.
At the inaugural meeting of the India-Saudi Arabia Strategic Partnership Council, Modi and Bin Salman discussed their bilateral relations.
The Prime Minister announced numerous initiatives at the meeting’s opening comments to take “our close partnership to next level. Our relationship will get a new direction and energy in today’s meeting”.
To further advance cooperation in significant areas, the India-Saudi Arabia Strategic Partnership Council was unveiled in 2019.
Following the conclusion of the G20 Summit, Bin Salman is currently in India on a State visit.
The Crown Prince was given a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhavan’s forecourt before the talks.
“I am very glad to be here in India. I want to congratulate India for the G20 Summit,” Bin Salman told reporters after the ceremonial welcome.
The Saudi leader stated that the globe will benefit from the summit’s announcements. “We will work together to create a great future for both countries,” he declared.
Saudi Arabia is one of India’s most important Middle Eastern strategic allies. Over the past few years, there has been a noticeable increasing trend in the general relations between the two nations.
The focus of the two parties has also been on improving their defence and security cooperation.
The then-Chief of Army Staff Gen. MM Naravane travelled to Saudi Arabia in December 2020 for the first-ever visit by a head of the 1.3 million-strong Army. High-ranking military personnel have visited both sides on a number of occasions since then.
