New Delhi, Jan 7: The Supreme Court on Friday directed the Registrar General of Punjab and Haryana High Court to secure and preserve the travel records of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Punjab.

“We direct State of Punjab including police authorities, and other Central and state agencies to cooperate and provide entire record immediately. We direct Registrar General of High Court to secure records and keep them safely,” the Bench said.

The Supreme Court is hearing a plea demanding a probe into Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security breach during his visit to Punjab on January 5. The NGO Lawyers Voice has filed a petition seeking action against individuals responsible for the incident as well as suitable directions to the Punjab government to prevent a repeat of the occurrence..

Senior advocate DS Patwalia, AG of Punjab told Supreme Court that Punjab is taking the issue very seriously. A committee was constituted by State govt on the same day of the incident.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta in reply told the Supreme Court that the incident has caused international embarrassment, this matter cannot be left to just anyone and it’s a matter of cross-border terrorism thus NIA official may assist the probe.

The Apex court will continue hearing PM’s security breach case on Monday.
