New Delhi, Oct 30: Manish Sisodia’s bail plea in relation to cases involving purported irregularities in the Delhi Excise Policy case was dismissed by the Supreme Court on Monday.

“We have dismissed the bail plea of Manish Sisodia,” the court said.

A bench consisting of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and SVN Bhatti issued the ruling.

Nonetheless, the court ordered that the case’s trial be finished in six to eight months. The court further stated that Sisodia may reapply for bail in three months if the case trial moves slowly.

“So within three months, if the trial proceeds sloppily or slowly, he [Sisodia] will be entitled to file an application for bail”, the court said.

The court noted the details surrounding the transfer of a 338 crore money trail, which is tentatively established, even as it denied bail.

Manish Sisodia appealed to the Supreme Court seeking bail in cases filed by the CBI and ED, which are connected to purported irregularities in the Delhi Excise Policy case. His bail request, previously rejected by the Delhi High Court in both cases, was challenged by him in the Supreme Court.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Sisodia on February 26 in connection with his alleged involvement in the ‘scam’. Since then, he has been in custody.

Following his questioning in Tihar Jail on March 9, the ED had arrested Sisodia in connection with the money laundering case arising from the CBI FIR.
