New Delhi, April 21: The Supreme Court issued notice on a petition challenging a Telangana High Court judgement in a case related to the murder of YS Vivekananda Reddy on Monday, but it instructed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) not to arrest Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy till Monday.
The appeal contesting the Telangana High Court judgement granting temporary release from custody to Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy in the YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case was given notice by a bench presided over by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud.
The Telangana High Court’s order was also stayed by the Supreme Court.
The Telangana High Court ruling dated April 18 was being contested by Narreddy Sunitha, the daughter of former minister and MP.
Such an order, according to the Supreme Court, is unacceptable.
The case was set for further hearing on April 24 by the court, which also served notice on the respondent.
The CBI is questioning Avinash Reddy in connection with the murder of Vivekananda Reddy.
According to the High Court of Andhra Pradesh’s directives, the CBI took over the probe in July 2020. The incident was first reported to police in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, at Police Station Pulivendula.
A former MP Vivekananda Reddy was found dead on March 15 at his home in Pulivendula, one month before the general elections in 2019.
