Jamshedpur, May 27: The Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industries (SCCI) has demanded President Droupadi Murmu to provide an airport to Jamshedpur for speedy industrial development here.

A delegation of the SCCI on Friday met the visiting Prez at the Governor House in Ranchi and handed her over a memorandum demanding the airport and asserted that the absence of the facility has hit the industrial development here.

Led by the traders’ body president Vijay Anand Moonka, the delegation also urged the President about the need of better facility for higher education and medical care in Jamshedpur in absence of which the people residing here have to suffer immensely.

Moonka while talking to lagatar24.com said that the SCCI delegation had got the opportunity to speak to the President for about five minutes during which they pressed the need of an airport near Jamshedpur and other facilities.

“When Droupadi Murmu was Jharkhand Governor, she had been to the SCCI Bhawan in Bistupur in the 2018. As we were known to the honourable President, she paid due attention to our demands during the meeting,” said Moonka.

The SCCI chief claimed to have explained before the President exactly how is the industrial development being affected and why investors are reluctant to see Jamshedpur as a greener pasture despite this being the industrial city of Jharkhand.
