Jamshedpur, Sept 13: A 30-year-old youth was killed on the spot as a speeding trailer hit the Scooty the victim was riding through Toll Bridge linking Tata-Kandra road in Adityapur with Kadma under Kadma thana area on Wednesday morning.

Though the victim was riding at a moderate speed keeping himself on the left, the trailer which was coming from the same direction deviated from the usual course and hit the Scooty rider, causing him to die instantly.

After the victim was flung away in the impact of the collision, his head came under the wheels of the heavy vehicle and was ruptured completely.

Incidentally, the victim identified as Amrit Kumar, a resident of Aditya Garden in Adityapur had put on a helmet.

Soon after the mishap occurred, the trailer driver stopped the vehicle at a little distance away on the bridge and tried to flee the spot. But some passersby caught him after a chase and thrashed him squarely for driving recklessly.

The trailer driver was later handed over to a police party which reached the spot around the time he was getting thrashed.

OC, Kadma Thana, Ashok Ram said the mishap took place as the victim was returning home by riding the two-wheeler having finished the morning walk at the Joggers Park in Kadma.

“We have shifted the body to MGM Medical College mortuary for postmortem after arresting the erring trailer driver,” said Ram while talking to lagatar24.com.

It may be mentioned here that the trailers, dumpers and other heavy vehicles ply recklessly on the Kadma-Sonari Marine Drive and also on the Tata-Kandra four-lane with the police hardly doing anything to stop the menace. The police, especially Jamshedpur police does occasionally conduct traffic checking drive and remain dormant in the rest of the time except for carrying out helmet-checking religiously.
