SE Railway recovers Rs 19.86 Cr in penalty during ticket checking drive in April and May

Ranchi, June 8: As many as 3,44,776 cases were detected travelling without tickets, with improper tickets or unbooked luggage during the intensive drive conducted by South Eastern Railways.

With a view to curb ticketless travel, South Eastern Railway has conducted an Intensive Ticket Checking Drive during April and May 2022 over its entire jurisdiction covering all the four divisions viz. Kharagpur, Adra, Ranchi and Chakradharpur.

An amount of Rs. 19.86 crore was collected as fare and penalty from these ticket checking drives.

A total number of 3,16,540 cases of ticketless travel have been detected and an amount of Rs. 19.66 crore has been collected as fines from ticketless travellers during April and May 2022.

Moreover, 28,236 unbooked luggage cases have also been detected during the above period and an amount of Rs. 20.20 lakh has been collected in this connection.
