Jamshedpur, April 10: Clashes broke out in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, when two groups engaged in brick-batting and arson over the ‘desecration’ of a religious flag.

At Shastrinagar in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, prohibition orders pursuant to Section 144 of the CrPC are in effect following shop and car fires during the confrontations. According to ANI, internet services have also been shut off.

Vijaya Jadhav, the deputy commissioner for the East Singhbhum District, told PTI that some antisocial characters are attempting to disturb the calm and that they need people’s help to thwart their scheme.

At Shastrinagar in Jamshedpur, two stores and an autorickshaw were set on fire on Sunday, which prompted the police to use tear gas to separate the crowd. According to officials, a sufficient police force has been deployed in Shastrinagar to uphold law and order. Following the altercation, security forces marched with flags in the vicinity of the Kadma police station in Jamshedpur, according to ANI.
