Ayodhya, Dec.6: In light of the 29th anniversary of the demolition of the Babri mosque, security has been beefed up in Ayodhya, Mathura, and other districts throughout the state.

The government has set up a separate control room in the district magistrate’s office to keep an eye on any developments on December 6. Multiple security zones have been established throughout the Ayodhya temple town and area, with soldiers stationed at key locations. All magistrates have been told to keep a close eye on all minor and big developments in the twin cities of Ayodhya and Faizabad at all times.

The Ayodhya police conduct frequent mock drills in the temple town, while special armed teams conduct security drills to repair any security system loopholes.

Meanwhile, the Muslim community in Ayodhya has opted not to commemorate ‘Black Day’ on the anniversary of the mosque’s demolition this year.

Four right-wing groups, the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, Srikrishna Janmabhumi Nirman Nyas, Narayani Sena and the Srikrishna Mukti Dal, had earlier sought permission to hold non-traditional programmes on the day in Mathura.

According to officials, Mathura has been separated into three zones for security reasons, with the red zone containing the Katra Keshav Dev temple and the Shahi Idgah having the most security personnel deployed.

In Mathura, prohibitive orders under section 144 of the CrPC have already been issued. The section forbids gatherings of four or more people in one place. The threat to execute the ceremony within the Shahi Idgah comes as a series of petitions requesting the “removal” of the 17th-century mosque are being heard in local courts.

150 companies of PAC along with several companies of central forces have been deployed in the state.
