Dhanbad, Oct 18: A deaf and dumb widow was allegedly raped by the security guards in Meharma block cum circle office premises in Godda district.
A senior police official of the Godda district informed that one security guard was arrested from Lalmatia today in the afternoon while the other guard is absconding. Accused have been identified as Ram Pravesh Yadav and Babulal Rajak deployed in the Meharma block office.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shiv Shankar Tiwary told the media that the police have taken the incident seriously and further action would be taken after proper investigation.
After the death of her husband, the victim (35) has been living with her mother for several years. Police said that she had gone to the ground of the Block Development cum Circle Officer’s (CO) office for goat grazing along with a neighbour girl at around 4 pm on Sunday when both the security guards (home guard personnel) committed the crime with her.
The victim revealed the incident to her mother and neighbours this morning. Villagers immediately reached the block office and lodged a complaint with the Block Development Officer (BDO) Abhishek Singh. The BDO took cognizance of the incident and reached Meharma police station. He then directed the officer-in-charge for taking necessary action against the accused after lodging the FIR.
One of the accused, Ram Pravesh Yadav was in the field with the Circle Officer when the FIR was lodged. Meharma police informed their counterpart in Lalmatia police station and got him arrested.
