Jamshedpur, July 28: While the district administration has made all necessary security arrangements for the Moharram, senior SP, Prabhat Kumar has appealed to observe the holy festival peacefully across the steel city.
In a statement made to this effect, Kumar has pointed out that the functionaries of Moharram Akhara committees across the city and beyond will have to take out the Moharram processions through the scheduled routes and within the stipulated time as permitted by the administration.
He said the routes through which the religious processions will be taken out have been determined by the district police in cooperation with the Peace Committees set up police station-wise.
Moreover, the senior police officer stated that the Moharram revellers will participate in the procession without any traditional weapons with them.
Significantly, while making this crucial announcement, the police officer called upon the people not to venture into posting any provocative messages on social media during the festival.
“The district police is keeping tabs on social media, especially in the wake of the Moharram. If anyone is found indulging in posting an objectionable or provocative message, we will detect it spontaneously and would take stern action against the person in question, ” Kumar has said.
Moharram will be observed in steel city tomorrow when adequate police personnel will remain deployed on important streets and also at strategic locations across the city.
