Nainital, Oct 9: A devastating incident occurred in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand when a bus travelling from Haryana crashed into a ditch. Tragically, seven lives were lost in the accident, with the victims including five women, one man, and one child, an official stated on Monday.

A State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) official has reported that 28 individuals have been successfully rescued, and further rescue operations are currently in progress.

They stated that the SDRF had recovered the deceased’s bodies and handed them to the civil police.

Officials stated that on Sunday, the Disaster Control Room in Nainital alerted the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to an incident in which a bus carrying 30 to 33 passengers, had met with an accident by veering into a ditch at Nalni on Kaladhungi Road.

On the basis of the aforementioned information, SDRF rescue teams from Post Rudrapur, Nainital, and Khairna promptly set out towards the location of the rescue under the direction of Commandant SDRF Manikant Mishra.

When the team arrived at the scene, they discovered that the bus had 33 passengers and had travelled from Hisar, Haryana, to Nainital. According to the officials, the bus lost control at the scene and plunged into a 200-meter-deep ditch.

A cooperative rescue effort was carried out by the NDRF, local police, and other rescue units once the SDRF rescue team arrived at the scene.

In the dead of night and under incredibly difficult circumstances, 26 injured passengers on the bus were rescued and sent to the hospital for treatment.
