New Delhi, Oct 17: Andriy Yermak, the chief of staff for the Ukrainian president, claimed that “kamikaze drones” had attacked Kyiv early on Monday after numerous explosions were reported in the capital’s Shevchenkivsky area.

Between 6:35 and 6:58 in the morning, three explosions took place (0335 GMT and 0358 GMT). A few seconds before the initial explosion, air raid sirens were heard.

In the largest wave of attacks in months, Russian missiles descended on Kyiv and other cities throughout Ukraine on October 10. The attacks resulted in at least 19 fatalities, 105 injuries, and a widespread condemnation.

On October 11, Moscow carried out additional strikes, albeit on a lower scale, targeting energy facilities in western Ukraine far from the battlefield.

The attacks, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin, were in retribution for an explosion that destroyed a vital bridge connecting Russia to the Crimean peninsula that Moscow has annexed.

Putin expressed satisfaction on Friday and stated that “for now,” there was no need for additional significant strikes against Ukraine.
