New Delhi: NCP-SCP chief Sharad Pawar took a swipe at the BJP, saying that while Rahul Gandhi has been questioning the Election Commission over alleged vote theft, it is BJP leaders who are responding instead of the poll body itself.

Rahul Gandhi’s Questions to EC

Pawar noted that Rahul Gandhi has raised critical questions about the functioning of the Election Commission and flagged concerns over alleged irregularities. As the Leader of the Opposition, Pawar said, Rahul represents an important democratic institution within Parliament, and therefore, the Election Commission should directly respond to his queries.

BJP Leaders Answering Raises Doubts

The veteran leader criticized BJP leaders, including Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and his colleagues, for responding on behalf of the Election Commission. “What does this mean? It means the trust people should have in the Election Commission is being eroded,” Pawar remarked, adding that the credibility of the institution must be maintained.

Concerns Over Voter List Manipulation

Speaking on the Bihar SIR issue, Pawar stressed that decisions must be based on facts and detailed verification. He alleged that arbitrary additions and deletions in voter lists are creating public distrust in the Election Commission. He warned that unless corrective measures are taken, the outcome may not be good for democracy.
