New Delhi, Sept 25: Senior Congressman and MP Shashi Tharoor will submit his nomination for the position of party president on September 30, according to the sources.
Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister of Rajasthan, has declared his candidacy for the position of party leader, and Tharoor has also made his intentions known by arranging for the collection of nomination forms on Saturday.

In order to get 50 delegates to propose his candidacy, Tharoor is approaching delegates from various states and has taken five sets of nomination papers.
Additionally, after more than 24 years, a non-Gandhi will be in charge when Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra decided not to run for party president.
The Congress has said that no other party has an internal democracy like its own, and that it is the only one with a central electoral body conducting organisational polls.
The next elections would undoubtedly be historic since the new president will succeed Sonia Gandhi, who has led the party for the longest period of time since 1998, aside from the two years from 2017 and 2019 when Rahul Gandhi grabbed the reins. In addition, after more than 24 years, the party will elect a president who is not a Gandhi.
